iMac Take Apart - Part 1 (Remove Front Panel)

In this video I will show you how to remove the front panel from your White Intel iMac & G5 iMac with iSight.

There are a few videos online showing how to pull the front panel off but mis showing you how to properly disconnect the top of the panel from the iMac. This is a very important step so that you do not break the panel or metal fingers that hold the panel to the iMac.

*** You need to have an Apple Access Card Tool to properly disconnect the panel from the iMac ***

Online this card/tool can cost $20-$30 but I have posted a video here showing you how easy it is to make your own for Free.

I would like to point out that if your computer is still under warranty or you have very little or no computer hardware knowledge at all then it's highly recommended to take your Mac to an Authorized Apple Repair Shop.

  • Hey, what was the link for that tool?? thanks!

  • @fenixfire077 It's an Apple access card but they can be $20 - $30 ..... I outline how to make one yourself free, check out my other videos and checkout the video "Make your own "Apple Access Card Tool" for Free"

  • thanks for your generosity....you make our world a better place. As for that hbmkeith comment, the world can also be a better place without those kind of people...;-)

  • @caracticuspots Thank you!!

  • Is there anyway you can increase the volume on your video? It's really hard to hear, or put subtitles or something.

  • @Ubuuuroi Sorry.... when I was recording the audio at that point it was very low. I boosted it just to the point where it would not sound bad.

  • hello thanks for the video,

I am wondering how hard do you think it would be to replace my core duo cpu with a core 2 duo cpu? This would be on a 20 inch iMac 2.0ghz.

  • Excellent vid, especially the card-tool tutorial - thanks a lot!

  • @twistedmacVIDEO I've got a problem with an original iMac G5. I installed a bluetooth module, but I need to connect it to the antenna... I don't even know if there is one! If I bought one I wouldn't know where to fit it?!

    Thanks

  • to take off those latches on the top i use magnets

  • Thanks for the Tutorial,

    Thanks

  • For the benefit of others, this is NOT the correct proceedure for a later 2006 24" iMac 6,1. For this model, you DO simply remove the 4 torx8 screws from the bottom edge and lift gently up from the bottom. The 24" 6,1 has a much simpler catch along the top edge of the bezel that requires no tools to disengage it. See this video: /watch?v=MijEjwDk5Is

None the less, thank you for going to so much trouble making this video for the benefit of many people! Very informative and well instructed!
