Ever wonder what it's like to be a track announcer calling a horse race? Kurt tells us in this one of many features Don Simandl and I did for Keeneland at the 2007 fall meet. You can see more of our features on the Keeneland website. www.keeneland.com

  • Kurt Becker and his father, Carl, are the best track announcers I have ever heard - and I've been to plenty of tracks. Every year I go back to Altamont to hear them call the races. Kurt's voice is perfect for announcing races. He truly makes them fun and exciting to experience.

  • I have a totally new respect for Kurt Becker after watching this. Keep up the great work! :)

  • I've lived in lexington my whole life, so at first I was a little hesitant about the "New Announcer's" arrival. But I grew to appreciate him Kurt makes you feel at home at the track. He gives details, but isnt over powering with his delivery. Im glad when Keeneland made their choice to have an announcer, they chose. Kurt.

Long over due kudos to you sir.

  • If anything ever happens to Tom Durkin, I hope NYRA or NBC brings Kurt Becker in. He did fill-in at Belmont Park last year and was brilliant.

  • Kurt Becker calls races with class

and dignity, just like the track keeneland.

Tom Durkin couldn't hold Kurt's Microphone for him.

  • Tom Durkin is the Best of All Time!!

  • Kurt Becker is much the best. The perfect person to call the always fantastic Keeneland racing.

  • Thanks for posting this--I love Keeneland and can't wait to go back there again soon!

  • One of the best horse racing announcers in the business. It's amazing he still gets nervous with his years of experience that includes the KY Derby. Well, he channels that nervousness into some of the most resonant, powerful race calls that you'll ever hear. Keep up the great work, Kurt!
