Danica Patrick First Stockcar Race (You Rate Her) ARCA Daytona 2010

Daytona Beach, Fla. -

Danica Patrick proved this much Saturday: Her desire to drive stock cars is not a novelty act.

Despite a collision with another car that briefly dropped her deep in the field and her unfamiliarity with the famed "drafting" at Daytona International Speedway, Patrick drove an impressive race and stormed back to finish sixth in her first stock car race.

"I had so much fun in a race car today," an ebullient Patrick told a media swarm that greeted her in the garage after the race. "I can't wait to do it again."

The 80-lap ARCA Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 -- won by Bobby Gerhart of Pennsylvania -- was Patrick's first step toward racing on the much larger NASCAR circuit in and around her full schedule on the Izod IndyCar Series.

Indeed, the race essentially was a practice round for Patrick before she immediately jumps to NASCAR's second-level Nationwide Series either next weekend here or Feb. 20 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

Good job. Damn good job! When she got sideways in the tri-oval I was waiting for her to hit the wall, but as the in-car camera showed SHE SAVED IT! Then she came from the back to finish 6th....Just to educate you nimrods squawking about her letting go of the wheel during her spin. That is an Indy car trick. In Indy car the wheel can snap back and break your wrist.

I'd LOVE to see all you armchair " racers " and haters faces if you were sitting in Danica's Indy car going 225 mph into turn one at the Indy 500 . There would be 10 colors of crap in your diapers after you passed out . Today , I changed the channel on a snoozefest Nascar race in Las Vegas . If Danica was in the field , I would have watched it . Check out the youtube vid of Danica leading at the re-start of the Indy 500 . If that doesn't raise the hair on your arms , then your dead .

@imallpissedoff I would like to see you drive in indycar for about 5 years, then suddenly drive a stock car in competention for the first time, there is a world of difference, she finished 6th aswell, and she has three decent finishes at daytona.

There are two reasons that Danica Patrick still has a "career" in racing.

1. Political correctness.

2. She's female.

She can't drive for shit. She steps on the gas coming out of a turn, under a yellow flag, on a wet track and spins it like a school girl in her dad's Volkswagen! XD XD XD

Oval racing is about concentration and precision. Thats about it for skill. If u wanna see skill, see one Sebastian Vettel flying lap for exmple....
