If Philip McLean had stepped in and slipped in the red paint, as Randall claimed, some of the paint would have at least been on the soles of his shoes. But they were spotless. Also, it's very unlikely that an artist who was working with paint would have been dressed the way McLean was.

  • Randell is the lier. Since ever Phil got engaged with Betty he was mad, so on that visit to meet Phil that was when he killed him.
