@UFBvoodoochild My comment was a reaction on the comment of @timoabrahams, who does say that this is a dslr. You have to read my comment in that context, without it, I indeed sound like captain obvious.

@teundilles WE KNOW its not a DSLR nor is it advertised as being one. well done on stating the obvious btw, if he had the same size sensor as a DLSR then i'd buy 10 of them. and saying its no match for a modern dslr is like comparing a push bike with a motorbike

@1aMattes Actually, this is a bridge.

As a noob photographer I chose this camera. It's built like a tank and the bottons are thoughtfully place. It does stay in my hands even if my grip is relaxed. It's got a crazy amount of features that will take me a couple of weaks to masters the learning curve is steep for noobs.

OK so it's not a DSLR... well yah, boo, suks! It's still a damn fine camera any way you look at it.
I've seen great photos taken with some fantastically expensive equipment, equally I've seen fantastic shots from an old 35mm compact... ah yes that would be because of the person taking the photo!

Exactly! Arrogant DSLR users. I am not against the slightly better image quality of a DSLR. But to spend insane amounts of money and the incredible weight whilst i travel? No thanks

Hear hear to all those voicing the strengths of a bridge camera! I'm looking to get the S200EXR (sorry Lumix FZ38 lovers), as there are so many situations where I do NOT want to have to change lenses, and simply need the versatility of a bridge camera.
I suspect that DSLR owners assume that people are trying to progress 'up' to where they are, and don't realise that many people consciously *choose* not to own a DSLR.

Fellows, once and for all, the Finepix S200EXR is not a DSLR. It's a bridge camera... magnificent at that! ;-)

In the end it depends on the photographer. In my opinion a non-pro can do better pictures with bridges. A good rifle doesn't make a good hunter.

It's NOT a dslr. A dslr has got a mirror to guide incoming light towards the viewfinder. This one uses the ccd to pick up the image and projects it in a small lcd, which is called an electronic viewfinder. Als this sensor is way much smaller than that one of a dslr, which translates in more noise and less dynamic range. It migth be a brilliant bridge camera, but it's no match for any modern dslr with a good lens.
