If the UN asks for tax for poor you can be sure it will go straight into the pockets of the bankers. Tim O'Brien is making a joke, it's his way.

@gerdes81 I think the song is partly being sarcastic - he's pointing out that lots of folks say we should be worried about all sorts of things (wall street, the president, gay marriage, etc.), I don't think he's making a moral point. But I could be wrong, he could be a hater.
Side note - this is the first time I heard this song and it's interesting hearing the reference to Bin Laden post-death. But it makes Tim's point even more - Bin Laden is dead and there is still plenty to worry about!
