That typewriter was clean before he dumped powder all over it to make it look like he did such a great job

This is am amazing job you have done. My mom has one of these from when she was a child, but even by then, her Remington had about 10 years on her, and I just found it again. all it needed was a good wipe down and it was great. I have a question though. Did yours have a problem with the space bar needing help actually putting spaces? my mom's needs you to actually push it to the left as you press the space bar.

Wow, you did a wonderful job!

I had to take the platen off mine to get a stuck label out. There aren't that many pieces, but I can't figure out how to get the stupid thing back in! It's the two silver pieces on the left side that control line spacing. Any ideas?

@auroralim Thanks a bunch. I appreciate it.
I have the same model typewriter that could use a bit of cleaning up. What products did you use?

@SamTheToyRobot i used WD40 to get it shiny and before that, a sponge from 3M Scotchbrite called Easy Erasing Pad. you use it with some water only but it gets some tough stains off. you just have to be careful with it. don't scrub too much because it might get some paint and the decals off. :-)

Great transformation. I just bought the Quiet Riter eleven in great shape but needs ribbon - know where I can get one?

@rlzatticus in the Philippines where I am, the ribbons are readily available at the local bookstore. i'm sure you can also get some from Ebay.
