Skyler, our parrotlet loves to play loud and rough. And yet, he's got a soft, quiet spot in him for his "Puffy" (main squeeze). He's just too sweet!

  • WOw, your bird is so quiet. My bird tells all day long if I don't let him out of the cage.

  • Yes, he is a quiet little fellow, our other parrotlet (a green male) is much more vocal. Skyler was hand raised with LOTS of parrotlets, so I guess we lucked out with him. :D

  • My Parrotlet screams if we don't let him out of his cage and if I pet him in a way he disapproves, he will bite.

Is there a way to train our bird more like yours? I know a lot of it is in their character, but I am giving up on him because he annoys me so much when he screams.

  • Sorry, Skyler is naturally quiet and gentle (he was the runt of the clutch). I also have another parrotlet (green) that is a lot louder and very hand shy, so I'm inclined to think that his boisterous nature is closer to the normal state for captive parrotlets.

  • One more question, do you clip your bird's wings? I haven't done so to my bird. I heard that calms them down a little.

  • I do clip them, but only if they start getting themselves into trouble, otherwise I leave them fully flighted.

  • I had one parrotlet for almost 4years. She (now I belive was a He) was really quite until I got upin th morning! at the firts move or sound, she started telling and jumping until I take her out of the Cage.

Eventually she learn how to open it so, he just fly to my bed to play.

    Was really beautiful.

  • Their beaks get caught in the slits.
