  • Im sure you said some cool things but had no idea what they were lol. Anyway do you have to drop the drive shaft to install the short shifter? Im replacing my guibo anyway so you think its a good time to change? I have a little left and right play in my shifter would a new bushing fix that? Thanks and nice car

  • @jlubez if you are replacing your Guibo already, a good thing yould be to replace the center bearing too. You don't have to remove the driveshaft to change the shift lever, but you really get more space. When you are removing your driveshaft, make sure to mark it with the rear half shaft because if they get separated and haven't been market, the driveshaft will be disbalanced.

If you have a little play in your shifter, you might have to replace the little bushings and the ''bitch of a clip''

  • @hugobest28 so i dropped the exhaust and can see the drive shaft. Got a center bearing, Guibo, e36 m3 shift lever, and all new bushing rebuild kit for the shifter. When I drop the drive shaft do I just take it off at the Guibo and leave it attached to the diff? also I have a vibration damper not sure if i have to do anything different, and anything special for the center bearing? if you cant tell its my first time lol. also someone made paint marks on the drive shaft but there not lined up?thnx

  • @jlubezYou can remove the driveshaft from the guibo for sure, be sure to have both of the 2 driveshaft pieces marked if you ever decide to remove the front section. For the vibration damper I couldn't care less about that and threw it away, it never felt any different in my case. I recommend you to remove the center bearing on a bench-press and re-install the new one in the same way. Local shops can do it for you if you don't have the tools. Paint marks don't match on the driveshafts? Make yours

  • you need a BMW Z31.9L shifter and you can also get the plastic bushing that goes around the shifter since I used that and it fitted perfectly

  • @naher in stock form no but with a short

Shifter yes the linkage will hit the guibo. It hits the selector rod or that long metal arm going from the lever to the tranny. Ucc makes a tutorial on how to bend this rod, and it will work. You basically put a bend right in the middle of the rod to clear the guibo. Good luck

  • @jlubez does your guibo hit your shifter linkages and make it hard to shift, because i am having that problem and need to change my guibo and my linkages

  • What were all the parts you replaced. (I have the same car In B.C.)

  • pojeb!
