I played both characters, first with Yoshi to give player 2 the needed 4th place, then with player 1 to finish the race. Therefore player 1's 1st lap is so slow.

@MK64MR When player 1, and 2 tie for 7th, why do they show 1P, instead of both.

The ceremony wasn't programmed to show more than one player receiving a trophy or being visited by that special bomb kart. If there is any tie, player 1 is always prefered. Not a great solution from the programmers, but we have to live with it.
