Interesting. I think these types of studies are definitely on to something. However, I am disappointed to see that, as usual, the females and adults are ignored. Furthermore, symptoms are on a continuum. Autism isn't necessarily "set" anywhere. It's not something that be pigeonholed on levels. One may absolutely pass for normal while hiding "severe" traits, and this is especially true for adults who have (naturally, of course) become more self-aware with age.
