The first part of the event in Glastonbury's Market Place, by the Market Cross, on May 1st 2010. You may want to mute your speakers for the first 1m 43 seconds.
The events shown here were shot prior to the scenes in the already uploaded videos. This is an experimental video using new editing software and camera.

In this video we can see the Winter maidens sitting with the Winter King & Queen on the Market cross, followed by a little of the set performed by Tim Hall; this is followed by a song by the Avalonian Free State Choir.
This video, like one other on this channel, was shot in HD, but has been reduced in size to a WMV, for space requirements and ease of upload.
It has suffered from a reduction in definition as a result of that, and the editing isn't too good.. but looks better in 480p
This video has had its viewcount frozen by YouTube for some reason, the actual count is far larger than is displayed.

  • Mike, the video is wonderful! thanks for sharing. If you delete, please add another form this celebration :>)

  • @Chetallica

Hi there. Well I'm quite surprised that this video has done better than I thought it would, so I probably won't delete it now. I may still add vids from the Chalice well event, though it's getting further and further from Beltane now.

Thanks a lot for the nice note, Chetallica.

  • If only someone could explain to everyone what holy ground this is ,long live Glastonbury. Thanks for the little glimpses Mike.

  • @jusbarryman

It's not holy ground, but a town event celebrating Beltane. I believe the Market Place was often a site which always attracted events of this kind in the past, and long before the erection of the Market Cross, which is 19th century. There WAS a medieval Market cross at one time, of the type seen at nearby Somerton, and Shepton Mallet on this spot.

  • @mikesey1 I see it as holy and ancient but thats because I believe it to be the sight or area of the first christian church and burial place of Mary the mother of Christ.I know however that most don't see it that way.I also beleive the story of Arthur and Camelot I know that makes me nieve and sappy but thats just who I am.I really do love your vids and thats the reason why and if I ever get the chance I hope to see it for myself someday

  • @jusbarryman

I apologise, I thought you were referring to this particular place in town!

Of course, Glastonbury is the site of the first above ground church in England, and the legends of King Arthur are well-known.I think they are based in fact. Many other notables of the church are reputed to be buried within the abbey's precincts, including Joseph of Arimathea for one: 3 kings of the Kingdom of Wessex are fact. See my "Real Camelot" video, here.
