Speaking at CFR, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown discusses the global financial crisis and how the United States, Britain, and other countries can work together to mitigate its negative effects. Brown focuses on how the present environment has heightened fears about globalization and encourages world leaders to take an expansive view toward trade and economics, adding that Barack Obama should work toward a global trade deal following his inauguration. Brown also discusses how financial regulation can be improved, both nationally and internationally.

  • To the Honorable G. Brown

World trade is a high standard ,an Idea well over due. However we must not be lost in the profits and lower standards in the process. Our Standards in Canada are tailored to our population ,we do not appreciate a world governing body deciding for us that lower standards are beneficial.

Concerning Afghanistan it is a worthy effort to bring Freedom to these people,However the poppy fields are doing better now than under the Taliban. Why is this the case today

  • Amazing at how leaders attain such high levels without having a brain. Here, Mr Brown asks the entirely WRONG question. The most important question to answer ISN'T how to deal with the financial crisis. It isn't how to get back to "sustainable finances". The most important question to answer is WHY WEREN'T WE FOLLOWING SUSTAINABLE FINANCES ALL ALONG? And, how can we prevent unsustainable financing going forward? Otherwise we gain nothing.
