I think that capitain can not announce his first landing because you will be capitain after like 10 years or so of being co-pilot so that was just a joke. It was good though.

Well, you can´t hear in the cockpit if people are clapping after landing, but this is allways done on german charter/holiday aircraft. perhaps because still some are not happy during flight ... one captain once announced - thank you ladies and gentleman, i am happy to be on ground as well, it was may first landing ...

I do not think so... and why are they applauding??? If the people are scared by flying...they should stay on the ground!!!!
