  • This is such a strong song both lyrically and perhaps even more musically

  • love the ending melody 5:28

  • such a sick tone

  • How about Slow Dancing In A Burning Room?

  • dont know much about it other than it's the two chords from the bridge in city love, pretty sweet song :)

  • ani body noes the efx hes using for his solo

  • I was actually at this concert--and although I am OBSESSED with John, I first fell absolutely in love with this song during this performance. Thanks SO much for posting, even though the Pavilion is so anti-camera, lol.

And this is now my favorite song. ♥♥♥ So beautiful.

  • I was at this concert. I am so glad lawn seating didn't get rained on. It looks like you were in exactly the same seats as me but on the opposite side.

  • i think he once said that he didn't want to put this song on an album. something like he couldn't have like this ten minute song on it. i can't really remember it verbatim, but it was something to that extent

  • Yes, I know what the song is in reference to I think that is why I love it so much. He also talks about it on the AGT DVD in more detail. I think that because that the AGT "Covered In Rain" performance stands out so much compared to others is that it was recorded the day after September 11th so the emotion is so raw.

  • I believe he explains it on the "any given Thursday" DVD. If you go to the special features and activate the interview that follows the set list, I believe he explains it. If you listen to the words like "standing in line at the CVS, looking at the missing signs.....tracing my fingers around a silhouette I haven't gotten used to yet" ect... If you look up the lyrics, it is like "wow! I had no idea that is what he was talking about!" Enjoy the music guys! :)

  • Hey there, could you please elaborate more on the background of this song? I didn't know he was singing about Sept 11th! Is there an interpretation of this song anywhere on the web?

  • john please put this on the next album!!

  • I am just curious if you guys know what this song is in reference to? For those who don't, it spawned from a jam on the end of "City Love." This song follows similar lines in that it is about New York; however, he is singing about September 11th. I was in the pit for this show, and I DO think it compares to the others. It was AMAZING! Thank you Mr. Mayer!!!

  • I agree!

    I agree!

Covered in Rain is my all time favorite song hands down. But nohting can compare to the AGT version. I wish he had more songs as powerful, beautiful and as passionate as this. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video! And thanks to John for bringing it back to us. But I have to say..."Something's missing" from the AGT version to now. Nothing can quite compare with that version, the depth of feeling, emotions and the awesome, awesome guitar solo back then. But then...I'll take it any way I can! Thanks!

  • i love this song and the thought behind it. Thanks John
