Tokelau - a small group of islands in the South Pacific - made a deal with a Dutch entrepreneur to form Dot TK - the domain registry for free domain names.
dot TK domain...not bad. TK for Totally Kool...that's right Cool with a "K" instead of C as we Pasifika Polynesians would say it.
Fakamalo atu kite Atunuku for this fantastic endeavour. Who says internet isn't for anyone aye...if dot TV can happen for Tuvalu why not dot TK. Let us hope that the benefits to the people is legit and for real. Brilliant stuff. God bless the BBC and God bless Tokelau. Tokelau mote Atua.
come on, Kris who will truly benefit from it all? The world or us? Our exploitations or their BENEFIT? Your convictions I know is not the same as your parents nor your ancestors. Why aren't you at HOME defending us since we need SCHOLARS like yourself. Lea atu ite alofa. Truly, where are we right now - TOKELAU is where it should be UNTOUCHABLE until the rightful 'toto' arrives. Kote Tokelau e ati e ia, ia Tokelau. I am proud to be one!
Being both Tokelauan and having worked at BBC World I think the exposure is a good thing. The slight at Charles is a little ignorant in itself. The inhabited islands are about the size of the BBC Carpark. So the fact he doesn't (as well as viewers) know a lot about Tokelau is fair enough. Good on the Beeb for using 4 mins of it's WORLDWIDE Broadcast to highlight a group of Islands that a small percentage of the world knows exists. If it means more people know more about Tokelau that's great.
lol true true..tokelau maybe a third world country but would you rather in tokealau or sum where like a *tryna think of another third world country* lol
