Part 18 of 31 - In this video I teach you a simple but effective way to make your lead vocal pop out of the speakers and sound super wide. Why would you want to do this? If only for one part of a song, it can make your vocals sound different and have a nice dynamic therefore keeping your mix interesting. Check it out!

  • i love it, so exciting. what is the song

  • @britsluver It's a portuguese song called "Minha Rocha" by Keilan

  • can you make a video on pasting and moving your chorus around? even when mines is in place it sounds of sync with the beat and maybe even a second slower. if anybody can help i would really appreciate it. thank you in advance.

  • @TopNotchPres You need to work in a grid mode. The only way.

  • Hey Graham, just wanted know if i send(insert) my vocals to a group channel to save cpu will this create problems. If i want to duplicate my lead vocal 3 times with the same vst's on each channel it can be stressful on my cpu. Because there grouped in to one channel does that effect the panning. Hope that makes sense. thanks

  • @trackmedixuk Just send your vocal tracks to a STEREO track, that way it will maintain your panning.

  • This is a great tip, I use to do this with my old Tascam DA-88. Thanks for your hard work with these videos. I haven't been recording in my own studio because I have been singing professionally for the past twenty years. I use to run my own studio in NYC before I went pro as an opera singer. The recording world has changed dramatically since those days. Thanks for all the advice, it has been very helpful.

  • Great but why not use the standard delay plugin? Use the stereo delay on the mono dubbed track and slightly delay one channel in the plugin, and no delay on the other channel. Less disk reading, less tracks, less plugins. Then nudge the dubbed track to the left a bit.

  • so you basically doing a Hass trick to the vocals....

  • What compressor did you use there?

  • this would be quite similar to the mid/side stereo mic technique. instead of delaying a double-track you have a second figure 8 mic, duplicate that and put one out of phase(short delay/phase produce similar effects).

Now i'm wondering what that would sound like as i've only tried it on piano so far.

  • name of program ...???

  • Wow, what a fantastic tip!

  • awesome!

  • you rock!! ty!!!
