  • I think your comment is off base. Even though he occasionally pushes, his voice is very large. In addition the part was not written for a heroic tenor, Nourrit, who we are told was a lyric with a strong top (one of the first to sing top chest tones) He IS french, and his french is very understandable and beautiful in my opinion.

  • That was so ridiculous! "Alagna" and "awful french" aren't even compatible words! Besides he's one of the best singers for this role, if this is "too heavy for him" I wonder who can sing it!

  • chant superbe, orchestre peut mieux faire

  • просто фантастика!!!много раз смотрел это видео и каждый раз думаю,что ради такого стоит заниматься искусством!!!

  • superbe, merci Roberto pour tous ces bons moments, c'est toujours un immense plaisir de t'écouter .

  • He is really good!!!! Awesome!!!!

  • For Rachel, Nobody does it better !

  • On peut lui reprocher plein de choses mais son français est parfait!

  • As a French, I have to laugh at those who criticize his diction. His French is perfect. Now, Tucker, Caruso and Domingo should have sung this great aria in the Italian translation because their French is horrible. If what the writer means is that Alagna pronounces the mute 'e'...well, that is still done at La Comedie Francaise. That's classical! Adrien Alpendre (Marseille, France)

  • He would be the best in this role. It's not too heavy for him.

  • no, the role is is definitly too heavy for him. however, i agree with you that his french is near perfect if not perfect

  • Alagna may have his flaws, but anybody who criticizes his French diction is totally mistaken. Il ou elle a tout faux comme on dit en France. Indeed the part is too taxing for his voice, but what has always astounded me is the clarity of his French or Italian. It is his best asset actually.
