I really like pacers! They are far better than sprinters! The humming sound that comes from the pacers is brilliant! And they look better than sprinters too! Cool vid! 5*

I was born shortly after the 142s were introduced an they are really no bumpier than a bus. It's a very enjoyable experience to be on a Pacer.

You could also try 141113 on the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley - they've just restored it a couple of years back. It's the only 141 to be fitted with Cummins engines, instead of the usual Leyland TL11 ones.

You're saying Pacers don't make a half decent noise?

Not to mention that the Keith and Dufftown railway have a class 140 protoype (albeit not in service).

I love the ex ATN 142s,
they are comfortable, warm, sound great, well maintained and they look good inside!
Much better than the disgusting ex FNW and merseyrail ones!!

Try Weardale Railway's 141103. Also Telford Railway have the single car prototype Railbus RB004 in service.

Not all the 141s were exported to iran, a handful are still in opperation in the uk on preserved lines, soon i think im gonna go on a 141 hunting trip!!!:D

The original drivelines were only updated versions of the ones under first generation DMUs. The TL11 engine was an updated & turbocharged version of the 680 found on the class 101s and the SCG R500 gearbox was from what I gather an updated version of the gearboxes in first generation DMUs but fully automatic. Most of the first gen DMUs rode worse than Pcacers apart from some of the last ones that used MK2 coach bogies.

well, any except MiseryRal ones!
But also, one of the reasons for the video was to show the wonderfull little, very hard working class 142 against the beauty and slendor or Darlingron Bank Top Station.

Bishop Auckland is actually quite a nice little town. The line to Bishop Auckland passes through quite a lot of old Railway History and there for is a very interesting line to travel on. The Bishop Aucland branch might not even be here now if it wasn't for the class 142. There cheap build and cheap to run nature help stem some of the losses of the Bishop Aucland branch line.
