I have seen two, one at the West end trying to eat my white sea bass in apx. 70-80 ft. of water, and the other was on the back side about 1/2 mile out just crusing along. The first one was rather large maybe 15-18 ft. long. The second just a small one apx. 6 ft. Both were spotted in the Fall. Both were far from the Cathedral but they are out there.

@bradhamlet, where exactly have you seen GWS at Anacapa? I've been freediving at The Cathedral probably 10 times and been on the back side a couple times as well. Never seen one. Just curious.

Scuba diving has its dangers, that is why it is considered an extreme sport. The likely hood of encountering a great white is extremely small. If you meet a great white than it might be god's way of saying he wants you back

Do you ever think about the White Sharks in the area? I sail here and have seen them. I'm just saying.

Cool video! I've dived the Cathedral before off the Spectre. I remember this huge sheephead that would let me pet him.

Great Video! I did some free-diving off of Scorpion Anchorage this past spring. Can't wait to get back out on the islands. Looks like I'll have to dive here next. 5 star!
