  • Not saying you did anything wrong,

But one of my favorite racing related quotes,

"Everytime I see a crash, no matter how terrible, I put my foot down... Hard! Because I know everyone will be lifting theirs." -Jean-Pierre Sarti (from Grand Prix 1966)

The Best Racing Movie of all time!

  • @MSchumi101 Have to agree with you, John Frankenheimer did an amazing job capturing the feel of motor racing, and bringing it to the big screen in a very compelling fashion. It is a great film by any standard, but definitely the best movie about racing. There is something to be said about Sarti's claim in the film, and having raced long enough now I've seen some bad ones (and been in a couple too, this one was nothing!) In this case if I kept my foot in it, I would have just hit harder!

  • Panick is the most common way people crash..... too bad he slammed on the brakes like that.

  • @polishboy808 Hi, I am the driver in this video. I did not PANIC! I responded to a huge crash unfolding in front of me by rolling out of the throttle. As I saw the to cars touch wheels in the kink at 125-130MPH I had no clue where cars and bits were going to rebound, anybody who would keep their foot flat into that unknown situation is either a FOOL or an IDIOT or BOTH! The result of lifting at turn in was trailing throttle oversteer which made the car half spin.

  • Your car doesn't look that bad. Was it severely damaged? That was an unfortunate end and early end to the race.

  • Got off very lucky, a couple of bent wishbones, and some stress cracks in bodywork.

  • Lifting in the Kink is a bummer, that guy in the black car owes the rest of you.

  • Is that at road america?

  • ohhh ya i hold the lap record in a 1931 model A Ford which has NO POWER lol. happy racing and bad luck on your crash sometimes things happen that are not in your control

  • EPIC LINE INTO 5 i know you think that its best to follow the track........oh how wrong you all are the line shown here from time index 0.41 to 0.51 is the fastest way to get into turn 5 now i understand that there was a car to his outside, but you would take the corner straight untill you had to turn in to 5 for a great line... if you don't trust me try it out in a practice and see for yourself good racing and note this i am tired of seeing turn 5 buggered up every time

  • @MSchumi101 Thats a dam fine tip and as this video proves lifting can be fatal but we live and learn.

Of all the placed for it to happen too, it gets narrow down there with the barriers on each side so cars bounce out onto the track too

  • I drive a Formula Vee, if you lift in a corner just like this chap did you buck to the side or swap ends. If you've never driven a Formula car then you have no idea of what it's like. Enjoy the video for what it is.

  • @sshelton60 Spell Check is two words smart ass... And yes, after I look at this again (10 months later) I do see he didn't hit the brakes. Still, lifting at a high speed kink like that will almost always end that way (Not saying you did the wrong thing, just saying there was nothing you could really do there).

  • @polishboy808 Please try SpellCheck next time. (Panick)

  • @TEAMDIOXIDE I think it is staggering how people who have never driven these or any other race car can even think of commenting on reaction in the car. Firstly even though you saw the contact it would have been a fraction later than the camera and the speed at that point or rather momentum is still building so any change of direction is difficult to control. I have raced FF 2000 but had a similar accident at that spot in an S2000, with basically the same result....I thought you did very well..
