This is great I got one last week. Now all I need a good pickup for my neck position
-
Awesome. Sounds like it has great sustain

Thanks to this video I went with the SH-5 pickup in my Ibanez SZ520QM... and i'll never look back, its awesome.

Sounds great. I'm going to be switching out my Breed Bridge.for the SH-5.

Nice pickup btw. It’s exactly what I thought it would be. It’s slightly hotter than the stock Gibson pickup, which was a 490 T (I think), and the sound and feel of the natural guitar that blew me away when I bought it, is there. I don’t know how to play Sweet Home Alabama on guitar. Plugged into just a Digitech RP150 (bad example of tone) with any clean or slightly dirty setting, headphones, the open D string sounds EXACTLY like the opening notes to that song. SD would sound the same in a brick

Looking at my guitars lately, has made me want to play. My fingertips disagree but I just sanded the SD logo off one of these that I had kicking around, and threw it into the bridge my 07 Gibson LP Studio. hopefully it works well in this awesome guitar (which has upgraded electronics, 500K pots, etc). I’m taking my time figuring out the connections before I solder, going from the Dimarzio, to Duncan (different color schemes). The description makes it seem like it is exactly what I'm looking for

hi :), out of these three which one would you prefer, DiMarzio Super Distortion, Seymour Duncan Sh-5, Or Seymour Duncan Sh-6 and why?, and please include info on the actual feeling when picking the stings, could i notice a big difference in feel when it comes to the DiMarzio Super Distortion and Every other pickup in the world. thank you fellow guitarist.

@Jarrardo13 Im sorry but the HZ is the WORST passive Pup going....considering the pure quality of Seymours there is no excuse for the HZ series to be that bad...........they are rubbish.... Tinny, thin, weak, no sustain and mids are awful.................oh but at least they are noiseless :S terrible

I have a Peavey with an SH-4 and a Music Man with an SH-5.
The SH-4 definatly sounds deeper and heavier to me.
i want to put a seymour duncan on my strat and was wondering which one (is good for metal and rock or just high gain

@inhuman96 You should have a look at the Seymour Duncan website - go to the forum and the 'Pickup Lounge' - there is much discussion in there about pickup suitability. Also depends if you are considering a double coil sized pickup on the strat or s asingle coil sized humbucker. I have a Strat with a SD Little 59 in the neck and a SD Hot Rails in the bridge. Sounds awesome.

do you like the sh-4 or the sh-5 better? whats the difference between the two?
fender7682 1 year ago
@fender7682 - it seems to depend on what guitar I put them in. The Sh-5 Custom is awesome in my Tokai LS80 but far to bright in my Gibson Les Paul Std. The SH5 is about 14k with a ceramic magnet so has a good balance of brightness and mid focus. The SH4 JB is 17k with Alnico 5 and has a harder tone which is more classic rock on my Gibson Les Paul Std.

Hi mate,
Is there a diffrence in tone or power between normal humbuckers and the chrome cover ones
scarboroughmusic 1 year ago
@scarboroughmusic - covers do take a little brightness off the tone depending on what the cover is made of. Cheaper covers are often brass then plated these can muffle or muddy up the sound - however if the magnet and coils are a bright combination - dulling them up with a thick brass cover may be desirable - so the answer is that is depends on other factors! - The best covers are believed to be the thinnest gauge nickel-silver then nickel plated - these are apparently the most transparent.
