Louis Gentile sings Vesti la Giubba in the Georg Tabori production of "Der Bajazzo" (I Pagliacci) in Berlin as a guest of the Berliner Festwoche 1987. This recording is dedicated to the memory of Georg Tabori, whom we lost July 23 2007.

  • You are high for backing off! You are brilliant! From one Tenor to another, please do not give up. Not only can you sing, but I don't know if I have ever seen a portrayal like this one ever. Bravo Gentile!!!!!

  • @ZCast1

My sincerest thanks for your warm and generous words. It was a magical time and it almost seems like a different life that someone else lived. Still, it warms my heart to think I can still touch someone through these memories! Thank you again!

  • Whatever happened to this man? Mr. Gentile should be singing Otello in the major theaters today! One of the greatest, hair-raising interpretetions I've ever seen/heard. The end gave me goose-bumps.

  • This man thanks you for your praise. This man also got very tired of the soccer player mentality that rules in the opera and art world today and backed away from it all a bit. Very best wishes!

  • absolutely exelent, very nice work, so much to learn from you, greetings from México.

  • Your kind words are greatly appreciated! Grazie! Greetings from Germany! (wish I was in Mexico!!!)

  • This is really bad. No wonder Lou Gentile is long forgotten.

  • Amazing! This is probably the best recording of this piece out there! Shame that the "soccer-player" mentality discouraged you from performing as much as you may have done otherwise. I mean, what other version of this scene has Canio struggling with two men, after which they leave and he throws a knife?

  • Absolutely stunning and profundly moving performance. Intense pain and passion brilliantly executed. Bravo Maestro!

  • I say u jump right back in! Make a name for yourself, u have the talent! No one will be able to stop u but yourself.. Thank u for sharing this great performance.

  • What a true heldentenor! What a true and natural voice in general!Ringing high notes. What a force in performance. This is how opera should be sung, sung from the heart:)Why is there no "Verismo"-CD of this stupendous singer, but one with Kaufmann??? Things are going wrong in the World of Opera..Greetings from Berlin.

  • This is incredible. One of the best, truly. Thank you.

  • Esto si es Lirica

  • Absolutely incredible!!! What is wrong with the major companies that they do not use this magnificent singer.
