A former history teacher who wanted his students to see, feel and embrace history -- especially civil rights history -- Jeff Steinberg founded Sojourn to the Past. He has created a life changing experience by keeping the civil rights movement alive for today's students.

On July 1, Jeff received the Carter G. Woodson Memorial Award at NEA's annual Human and Civil Rights Gala.

  • I went on this trip last year. It really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I feel so privileged to have met so many amazing people from the Civil Rights Movement. It was almost as if I had been transported back in time with them. I will never forget Sojourn to the Past and what it has taught me. Thanks, Jeff!
