But your wifes best kitchen knife works a whole lot better..

I wouldn't recommend using newspaper. The ink is toxic and bad for your tomatoes. Coffee filter works fine, or somtheing similar. Try also to use bucket made from a higher grade plasitc. On most plastic products there is a number on the bottom, I think the higher the better. go above 5

Plant some bush beans in the top of the pot!

beautiful music sounds like Martin and Hayes! Thanks for finally showing how to make an upside down planter. I've watched a ton of videos that said they'd show ya, but all they did was show theirs already hanging. Kudos to you!

Instead of a coffee filter, how about blank cardboard? I have plenty of that-

I totally agree, and I just put paper layed i the bottom and cut a cris-cross putting the small plant thru. leave most of the plant in the bucket because tomatoes like to make roots out of them, I hang a small weight from the stem so it doesn't curl up in the beginning. Mine are on rotating hooks and I turn them every week or two. This one is too low to the ground, mine are 7 feet up...

what song is this? it's =awesome!
Having encouraged you to try the upside down tomato, I must tell you that, in my experience, this is not the best way to grow tomatoes. In my garden, the upside down tomato produced fewer tomatoes, smaller tomatoes and required a lot more frequent watering (every day in hot weather). So, as a novelty, give it a try. But if you want tomatoes, stick with in-ground plants.
