The original recorded demo that was band produced has been released as "Lost Art Bergmann". Check it out. It's what Art Bergmann sounds like when John Cale isn't more worried about his fucking squash game than producing an album.
The production of this and any other record reflects the taste of the time, If it is that upsetting then just record it with todays' sensibilities. It won't change a fuckn thing but it might make you feel better about it.
John Cale did do a really poor job on the production of this album, though. It's the producers job to make the artist sound like the artist. On this album John Cale made Art Bergman sound like what John Cale wanted Art Bergman to sound like.
Wow, eloquently put! Someone should donate you the jaws of life so as to aid you in removing your head from your ass. Not to call attention to the eye-bleedingly obvious, but you really are a know-nothing when it comes to music. Ta!
Oh yeah, and also: Kevin Ayers; Brian Eno; Patti Smith; The Stooges; The Modern Lovers; Squeeze; probably more. Feel a little foolish now? Probably not...
Art is the shit, I scream along to his music whenever I can and yell "CLARENCE!" (ala Highway61) at the top of my lungs just for fun.
