I think the government shouldn't give out marriage licenses period. I think everyone should get civil unions from the government and marriages from their Church. Let's finally separate Church and state!

I can't vote for him. he is pandering to the religious right. Marriage is NOT a religious ceremony!!!! PERIOD. I can go into a court house and get married. I do not have to enter a church or temple to get married. Churches can deny marriage to whoever they please, but the state should not. equal rights are not special rights!

Oh mr. obama, while your intentions of rights are good, your goal just simply is wrong. While religions are entitled to believe what they may, a license from the state cannot be denied on pure basis of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. If there are conditions for marriage outside those things that have a clear purpose, that would be a different story and should be included in the definition of marriage.

Obama supported the California ban on gay marriage by his stupid support of only civil unions . Gays never should have thrown all their support and money to him. State bans on adoption and marriage make homosexuals the big losers of the 2008 election.

Yes, true Christians have been tolerant of others long enough! We didn't come to America to be free from oppression, but to gain the power to oppress others, I think people have forgotten that! Maybe next you can go after preachers who wear glasses, that is also banned in the bible, as is trying to serve two masters, god and the people.
