strange that these players use only 3 lives instead of 4 lives like the American tournaments.

no, big tournaments can be won by a range of top or upper-high tier characters.
It's very rare nowadays to see anyone worse than that on the tier list win a huge tourney. There are outliers like Armada going Young Link against Hungrybox and 2-0'ing him.

@nahor88 tier doesnt matter, the biggest tournaments have been won by a range of characters. this guy probably won a couple with link.

One thing to note about Aniki and Japanese players in general is the fact that they have a very different play style then we in America are used to seeing. At first glance Aniki does not look as good as other players becuase you do not see a massive amount of wave dashing/wave landing that creates speed and aggressiveness. However, where is real skill lies is in the acrobatic type play style. Perfect positioning, timing, and movement around the other characters moves. Do not underestimate .
