This episode. Bastogne. What hell that must've been. Most of us can only imagine how cold and terrible that winter and that battle mus'tve been.

When Roe tears off a piece of cloth to bandage Heffron's hand and recognizes it as coming from Renee...I'm unashamed to say I got a little misty there. There were so many lives and relationships torn apart.

I loved Roe and Heffron in this episode. (not in a slashy way) Gene giving Babe the chocolate was absolutely perfect, and I love how later we see Babe getting food for the doc in the chow line - it's a nice symmetry, and shows how much they all look out for one another.

All of this series is good but this ep sticks in your head. The stark beauty of winter, the cold you can feel, the moment when you falter, somehow finding the strength to get up. Shane Taylor take a bow.

@irakees8 actually it was Pvt. David Webster, he wrote a book about sharks then in 1961 i think it was, he went out to sea and was never seen again. RIP Private David Webster.
