  • @shotgun042 Listen with your ears, not your eyes! I love Dickey Betts too, but unlike him and other legendary guitarists who happen to move more, DTrucks remains laser-focused on channeling EVERYTHING of his essence into his playing and leaves nothing else behind. That's not to take away from the other great guitarists who are more animated, but it's just not Trucks' thing. When I listen to him play, I hear things I've NEVER heard any other guitarist come even close to - not even Duane.

  • i could listen to this guy every fuckin day for the rest of my life

  • Don't compare Derek with Duane. It's just not possible. Duane is UNIQUE when it comes to slide guitar. Untill up to present no other guitar player can level him as they all have their own style... and yes - even Derek Trucks or Eric Clapton! No eyes but ears to judge your knowledge of music. Very important!!

  • junior jimmy edgar struts old sound guy mixed them this night. he's a good friend of greg allman who worked for them

  • With Clapton being God already and duane no doubt an angel, there;s only one spot for Derek to take: PRESIDENT OF THE USA !!

  • @buckfan1969 Duane dreamed of one day being able to do exactly what Derek does now, which is have the ability to express every emotion possible through improvisation, especially with (but not limited to) the slide. Derek picked up exactly where Duane left off, even with what he's doing regarding the Tedeschi Trucks band...Duane wanted to expand the ABB to have horns, backing vocalists, and who knows what else...Derek really embodies the Allman Bros. legacy. He will go down as the greatest.

  • I love how young artists like Trucks are keeping this beautiful old music alive, and they'll keep it going long after the Gregg and the rest of the originals leave the stage. Kinda makes me optimistic for down the road. But I'm not ready to say he's better than Duane. Duane was a true original; I never heard anyone play like him before he came along, and haven't heard his like since. What a shame he left us at such a young age. What else did that genius have to play for us that we missed?

  • I love how the bass line at :45 is a quote from a beatles song..."...I once had a girl...or should I say...she once had me.."

  • Don't you just love it when retards fight over the internet?

  • Somehow Derek seems to have the spirit of Duane in him.

  • @sbamkmfdmdfmk , Is this the socialist collective bullshit that your politically correct professors taught you in college? Betts ain't gonna say what he really thinks! Musicians like doctors, and lawyers don't talk about,or put each other down! That's a fact my boy! Do you actually believe nobody is better then anyone else?If you do,you have a problem when it comes to critical thinking. What dicky meant is that the proof is in the pudding so to speak. We all have our favorite artists, right?

  • @MrSharkey11 You don't get it. Nobody is "better" than anyone else. Dickey Betts said it best: "This guitar playin' stuff -- we don't keep score, so nobody wins or loses"
