@jlstone55 you didn't follow my instructions. You have to install ClockworkMod first.

@jctjr33 Lol.

@tylerfixer No worries, I actually found that if I go to the Market and re-download the apps, then I could use Titanium Backup to restore the data. Now the only thing I have to do is re-set up my home screens... fun! LOL (Didn't occur to me that those wouldn't restore, since the underlying OS is basically different!)

@jctjr33 good job, you didn't read the instructions at all. You have to install ClockworkMod recovery first. Don't assume anything, READ the instructions first.

This procedure worked well! One question, though: I backed up using Titanium Backup, but now TB won't let me restore any of the apps I downloaded. Have you encountered this before? Any ideas?

@bnewall1 Hm. I have actually never used Titanium backup-- so I really can't help with that :( I usually back things up manually via adb...You might have more luck if you post your question on XDA and give a good amount of details... Sorry 'bout that!

please help.
i downloaded clockwork recovery from the market, downloaded a custom ROM, followed these steps and it erased everything, what a i doing wrong?

@MegaTCat you did not follow the steps correctly. Read the link that says "get clockwork recovery here", then look for the thread called "RevoToolkit". Get that, and you're 3 clicks away from done.
