These knifes are hand made by HIGHLY SKILLED Japanese craftsman with skills handed down over many many generations, some makers have been making knifes for 20 years and are only considered an apprentice. an obsession with the highest of quality and skill. You will not find these knifes in Wal mart. the prices can vary between $150.00=2000.00 for the kitchen models. with proper care (no dishwasher) they will last a lifetime, and are handed down to family for generations. @nimez31 Well, they could be different variations of pearing knives. or they could have longer handles, believing to provide better precision when cutting. but that's just my guess :P
