SIS: Suffering In Silence by Alison Freeman, Glasgow, Scotland

Directed by Adam Fresco, DramaTrain.co.nz
Performed by Tanya Christensen

The disadvantages of self-diagnosis. The heroic tale of a woman who suffers but does so without a murmur, complaint or moan. Like a modern day saint, she is an example to us all and her only true fault is, as she would say (if indeed she spoke at all), her unerring perfection.

Alison Freeman is 20 and lives in Glasgow, Scotland with her cat, Bruce. Alison is fond of saying to anyone listening that she's an actor who dreams one day of being a waitress in Hollywood. This is her first play and the first thing she has written not using crayon. Alison has been diagnosed as manic-depressive, but then, as she says -- who isn't nowadays?

"S.I.S Suffering in Silence" was written and performed for the 2010 reTHiNK Theatre Challenge "M.A.D. ...it's a matter of degree" and produced by Titirangi Theatre and Dramatrain

Filmed by Morningside Productions

reTHiNK is run by Mind and Body Consultants as part of the Like Minds, Like Mine programme to reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.
