Brewdog Sink the Bismarck

Style: quadruple IPA
Brewed by: Brewdog Ltd.
Location: Fraserburgh, Scotland, UK
Rating: 3.7 / 5.0

41% alcohol by volume, strongest beer ever made (so far), and by far the most expensive bottle of beer I've ever purchased. Sweet, citrusy, hoppy nose. Very hoppy, very strong, very piney taste. Somewhat syrupy. Imagine doing a shot of highly concentrated IPA, and that's basically what you have here. Points for ingenuity and experimentation, but a loss for general drinkability.

  • Did the bottle list an IBU? where did you order it from? Dogfish Head 120, but higher intensity?

  • @buffyrich There was no IBU listed that I noticed, but I imagine it's some very high number. You can only order it from Brewdog's site; it's made in very limited batches, and is VERY expensive (if you go to the site, you'll see what I mean). Imagine taking an already strong IPA (like the DFH120), and DISTILLING it. Seriously like doing a shot of intense hops. The thing I liked best about it, is it's still unmistakeably a beer.

  • I've known about this for a while and just noticed it offered in a bar for the first time around here (Eagle Rock, CA). I didn't try it. It was featured on the chalkboard for . . . . $125!!!!! I don't know if there's only one size. I've also heard that some bars offer shot sized tastings for like $15-$20.

  • hops, hoppy, hop good pine hop hop hops no malt hop

  • Believe it or not. A store here was selling the TNC and StB. I picked up a bottle of both last Friday. I'm extremely excited. I got the last bottle of StB and in no way is it cheap. But I wanted to inform you that both had the typical beer cork synthetic with the cage around it. Also along with the string tied around the paper it had a bottle stopper to use after opening. Not time to order more common stuff from them. Thanks for the review.

  • Just ordered mine!!!
