Lo considero la mejor cancion de todos los tiempos, desde que lo escuche sabia que tenia un gran significado así lo era .mi gusto son las montañas y cada vez que voy a alguna,,antes de llegar a la cima recuerdo esta cancion y siento las energia que me transmite, y cuando estoy solo me permite reflexionar mucho de la vida que llevo hasta el momento..creo yo que las personas deberian de leer su significado y se darian cuenta, que importante es la vida que dios nos lo ha dado. paul urure guevara,R

Okay...I served in Northern Ireland in 3 tours from 1986 to 1988...and couldn't be with the girl I loved later in life , a Catholic from Derry, because her father was killed by british troops when she was 10 and her family saw her as a traitor for being with me and me as a detested enemy...this song rings very true for me. Good enough for you? What do you except make nasty comments about others.Get over yourself!

The song finds its relevance as long as there are children orphaned and left crying beside lifeless bodies of their parents in hovels of militarized zones. When families are torn apart when husbands, fathers, sons, and brothers are called to war. When love cannot flourish because there are two opposing forces on each side and in between is a barricade.
A terrible beauty made indeed, when love is made on a wasteland and "through the barricades".
