Working in conjunction with an aftermarket radio and amplifier, or even with a factory heaudnit to line output converter and amp, the Bass Controller takes a designated radio sub or full-range stereo output from the radio and processes the low frequency bass notes. In turn, this enhances and restores the bass response, increases linearity, buffers unwanted transient noise and improves the frequency range for overall improved bass quality.

Looks like some people didnt watch the whole video haha. But anyway. I use the MX-2 in my car, havent had a problem with it other than it seems to stay on for an extended period of time when the car is off. Also, the REM out on it doesnt seem to work.

The MX-2 features Audio Signal Sense technology. This feature will keep your MX-2 powered on in the event you are not using a Remote input and simply relying on the Signal Sense capabilities to turn it on. Without the ASST, the unit would turn off everytime you change tracks or there is a break in music. Instead the unit stays on for around 1 minute incase you are changing CD's, functions etc.
