This is video #1 in a serie of three videos exploring different approaches to minimalism, reduction and movement:
It ain ́t what ́s there -- it is what ́s missing that counts.
Clip #1 is about space and time. But the room is not real, it´s an imaginary room and the visitor explores different ideas of this room,
Clip #2 is a reduced version of the first clip. the room is not shown any more, only through movement in time can the room be explored.
Clip #3 is a radical reduced version and goes to the edge of movement and thus to the edge of space- and time-experience. This clip can´t get more reduced - removing just one movement would make this clip being a static picture.
These three clips show that minimalism isn´t a fixed state, but rather a process.
These Clips were developed and presented as video installation in 2002 at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Each Clip was shown as a loop on a huge screen in an own room, visitors could walk from one room to the other and thus explore the idea of movement and time - that together define rooms.
