  • I'm french, and It's the first time I heard it :p I just want to say that the translation is exactly the same as the english. ^^

  • @Bourgpalette

i'm not french but i do know that :

Turn around - look at what you see.

In her face the mirror of your dreams

    does not mean :

Dans tes mains tu tiens le grand livre.

Qui demain te dira comment vivre

    which i trasnlate as:

in your hans is the book that tomorrow will tell you how live

  • @Sakkayapap i know , that's because the french needed a new lyrics for the song since if they translated it directly from the english song it would'bt rhymes, because french peoples does song just if it would be like a poem, you know with rhymes(livre-vivre).

  • Thanks for posting this. I always wondered what the French version sounded like. It's good for us Americans to realize that not everthing centers around us and our language.

  • no problem, the only thing difficult was to find the french version because it is very rare on internet,i ad to ask a guy who posted the french version on youtube, thank you for your comment

  • @freaklore La BOF avait sur la face A la version francaise, et la version anglaise sur l'autre face...

Bien sûr il faut savoir ce qu'est un disque vinyl 45 tours :p

  • @freaklore

thanks for posting this. the French version is hard to track down.

  • @freaklore in fact i was just reiterating what you ahd pointed out, just in English for the benefit of those who are not French and could not understand you reply to Bourgpalette.

  • @freaklore i never argued that at all. i'm just stating that "translation is exactly the same as the english" is not true as Bourgpalette stated.

Both the English and French lyrics have completely different meanings, that is all. I was not commenting an why they needed to change it. Just that Bourgpalette was wrong.

and yes i know what rhymes are, in fact i can rhyme in three languages.

  • The french version sounds better than the english!

  • In 1985 while visiting Paris, I bought this 45 and still have it! Soooo pretty in French!!
