Hey,

If you are watching this because you clicked on the video response, then please remember when rating and commenting that I'm no Aynsley Lister - I've only been playing 3 years, which I suspect is alot less than him!! This is just my interpretation of the same backing track

Had a fair bit of pent up something inside me so just decided to turn up and let rip. Had a quick practice (see other vid - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRfuS2vzSVw ) and then this is the first and only take, so inevitably there are a few mistakes!

The guitar is my Gibson R6

Amp is Cornell Romany Plus with a celestion alnico blue. Amp pretty high up and being VERY heavily boosted with a bsm velvet treble boost on about 3/4 and a BYOC clay jones type tubescreamer.

Mic - crappy inbuilt computer mic in a macbook laptop

Mixdown was done in garageband with a bit of reverb added

Hope you like it,

Cheers

  • This is my favorite of all your videos Johnny.....man, as much as I love the replica....this guitar is incredible sounding!!!!!

  • @skydog46 cheers...thanks, yeah I think the goldtop sounds great here...think alot of the tone came from hitting the amp so hard amp was on nearly max, and then hit with two boosts - a maxed BSM treble boost and a nearly maxed tube screamer set mostly as a clean boost - I remember the valves were spitting!!

  • Watched you coming along over the last 1 1/2 years John and your going great guns mate

Lovely Peter Green tones which get better & better

Keep it up (Let me know how you got that tone PPPLeeassee)

  • John, did you get rid of your other cornell for this one? I always loved the sound of the p-90's in a gold top-great combo.

  • @leftystrat62 yep - needed the money for the guitar...and downsizing the amp provided some of that!

  • lots of character in that tone. very expressive playing too.

    nice work!

  • I haven't checked out your videos in a while-your playing has most certainly improved. Great tone,I really liked your phrasing, and there was enough space to enjoy it all. Great job. Cheers

  • Very, very nice. Old school tone, old school soul. What the fuck can't I hear this all over like it used to be? Keep giving the gospel out.

  • Awesome! The Danny Kirwan influence is crystal clear!!!

A man after my own heart!

    Great Job!!!

  • amazing playing and tone...........

  • more like gary moore than peter green, but good stuff

  • Leaning into the notes a bit to much.

  • try to be more sparing with your licks.....remember....peter was very understated....less is more....but you'll get there, and it feels great when you do.
