Special and unique marriages: Lakota chief Crazy Horse had one or two male spouse(s) and many other Native American nations also have had what we now call same-sex marriages. Ethnographers have documented this. Some examples: Omahas, Zapotecs, Mohaves, Crow, Hidatsa, Ojibwa, Winnebago, Yuma and Timucua. Other cultures too. In 17th century Fukian Province China, same-sex marriages between gay men seem to have been common. And in West Africa, "woman marriage[s]"--a practice by many tribes.

The reason people who think marriage should be between a man and a woman are treated like bigots is because they ARE bigots. The only reason anyone wants to deny same-sex marriage rights is pure, unadulterated bigotry.

Brian Brown is a buffoon who should get a real job.

you got it backwards.
Religions have the right to deny RELIGIOUS recognition of marriage- they can believe whatever they want, even that gays can't marry.
Civil Law on the other hand is seperate from religion, and must afford homosexuals the right to legally marry.
It's good for politicians to listen to what the majority wants- but not if it takes rights from a minority. 90 percent of people can be against gay marriage, it doesn't mean they can take away others' rights.
-
Gay marriage threatens the procreation of humans? WTF? If two loving, commited people of the same sex take the vow, isn't that healthy? Voting away the rights of a small minority IS THE definition of BIGOTRY.

@kenballer00 There are tons of chruch, and "normal" groups trying to "cure" homosexuals. It's to those people that I say are wrong. If someone wants to marry another person of the same sex, they should be treated the same as if they were to marry the opposite.
-
@kenballer00 Haha good one. Always love when people compare gay people to polygamy. Except for the fact that gays are normal, polygamists are idiots who can't stay loyal or they can but to many people at once, unlike gay people who last I checked have long-lasting relationships. What about heteros, what's the divorce rate these days? 1 in every 3 marriages or something?

i encourage you to type in "Alan Keye's argument" and watch this video where Alan answers and refutes these type of arguments about the infertile and other situations just like it
-
nobody's forcing gays to deny their attractions. Nobody's criminalizing homosexuals acts or raiding gay marriages in churches. gays can freely express their feelings of love in a church and get all the benefits that come with marriage through civil unions. however, as soon as you step outside the private realm of RELIGIOUS marriage and enter into the public sphere of CIVIL marriage, you are subject to the law and public opinion or vote because civil marriage is about public policy.

i bet thats what Brigham Young said when he fought to legalize polygamy
Brian, honey. I used to think I was straight, too. Time to come out and stop the self-hate.

Letting gay people marry will not affect marriage or belittle it. Marriage is not a religious right, it is a civil right and gay people should no longer be seen as second class citizens.
