He does..Allan once told me that yes he even plays in 4/4, which I thought was not only impossible, but sacrilege!  ;-)

Most of it is 4/4. Fred is 4/4 and I'm sure I could name a hundred more. It's just that the downbeats are sometimes "shifted" and the rhythms are chopped into fractions (like how 3 and 4 both go into 12).

But yeah, you pretty much never hear him grooving over something like Surfing with the Alien. heheheheh

Although, Forest of Feelings is 4/4 and pretty much a rock/fusion thing with Jeff Watson. It's way cool.
