If Turkey Jails a Cartoonist: Boycott Tourism in Turkey

Dear Turkish Tourism Board and Turkish Embassy,
I support free speech, freedom of religion, and freedom from religion.
If Turkey prosecutes/imprisons cartoonist Bahadır Baruter then Turkey is violating his human rights and his freedom of speech. Such prosecution/imprisonment also violates Turkey's secular constitution and Turkey's Kemalist Ideology. Government should be neutral on religious matters, not favoring religion by intervening to put a human into a Turkish prison just for drawing a cartoon. It is insane for a modern country to act this way. If Turkey persists in this, I promise that I will actively tell all of my relatives, friends, co-workers, travel agents, local newspapers, government officials, etc., that we should peacefully protest against Turkey for this human rights violation. One form of protest is boycott, including promising to never visit Turkey and to avoid buying Turkish products. Also, we will oppose Turkey's inclusion in the European Union, since the EU should not welcome such human rights violations. Please intervene to restore free speech. Please reply to let me know how you will address this outrageous human rights violation.

On May 14, 1919 a fleet of British, American and French warships brought an entire Greek division into the harbour of Smyrna (Izmir). The landing was followed by a general slaughter of the Turkish population. Greek gangs roamed the streets looting and killing. As the Greek army pushed into Anatolia the local population was subjected to massacres, ravaging and raping.

@djhuso If you are interested in a 1919 Navy battle, please make or find a video and discuss it there. THIS video is about the government of Turkey threatening to put someone in jail just because he drew a CARTOON that some other people did not like. Do you personally think that governments should put people in PRISON just for expressing a viewpoint different than the viewpoints of other people? Is that your idea of free speech? Is that your idea of human rights?

@00thelastottoman00 I think that you should draw a few cartoons to criticize the things that you do not like (since you obviously have a long list of complaints). It might be psychologically good for you to let your hostility out by drawing, instead of threatening.

And if YOU draw cartoons then I would support that you should not be THREATENED with being put into JAIL for just drawing cartoons.

@00thelastottoman00 Don't flatter yourself with thinking that most Americans want to "cut" Turkish people. Most Americans would not even be able to point to Turkey on a map, they care so little about Turkey. Sad, but true.

Of those Americans who do have an opinion about Turkey, for most of those Americans they would just say that they like the beaches in Turkey, and no nothing about Turkish government, etc.
