3/3 Here is Pyotr Gusev's staging of extracts from Jules Perrot's "La Naïade et le pêcheur" ("The Naiad & the Fisherman"), a.k.a. "Ondine, ou la Naïade".

**See 1/3 for detailed notes on this staging & performance.

**One thing I find very interesting is music for the waltz & subsequent gallop danced in this clip from 6:07 - 9:00. It is identicle in its melodic structure to a waltz & gallop from Pugni's 1864 score for "The Little Humpbacked Horse", specifically, the "Grand pas des nereids" where the Tsar Maiden is captured by Ivaushka & the Humpbacked Horse. Minkus would later create a gallop for the final number in Act I of "Don Quixote" that I have no doubt he based on Pugni's gallop. I've uploaded the "Grand pas nereids" from "The Little Humpbacked Horse" to youtube & it includes only the waltz ... see the clip titled "The Little Humpbacked Horse" - Enchanted Isle of the Tsar Maiden ")

  • This is from a 1989 Kremlin gala.

  • Thank you. Very nice. This must be from the late 1980's?? I have long admired Bylova and it is nice to see her again.
