Elliott Randall :: Tribute to Cornell Dupree

A tribute to my dear friend Cornell Dupree, who passed away on Sunday 8 May 2011. Cornell was without doubt the most supportive, non-competitive,and best picker a picker could want to be pickin' with. A Prince; a Gentleman; a killer musician. I am thoroughly heartbroken.

- 24 June 11 - responding to a number of email queries, I should point out that this piece in my instructional video dealt with the subtle use of the vibrato handle (a.k.a. 'tremolo arm', 'wanger bar', etc) - so this should explain why my right hand never left that 'appliance' through the course of this short vid.

I remember the day that this video was shot, Ells, and since that time my fondness for Dupree's playing and person have only grown stronger. After some reflection, these days, I can honestly conclude that there are two important qualities that measure who we are; character and conduct. Cornell Dupree set a high standard in both of those areas for all of us, passing through this place.  RIP, DA

Hey Elliot I did not know ~ your comment above a thousand percent true. I talk about Cornell as much as I can during our Rock 'n Roll Camps here at IMA, citing him as a major influence on my playing. As you are, dear friend.
