The Jane Goodall Institute is currently assisting the community around Kanywabarogo region reforest its surrounding environment.

The reforestation is aimed at constructing a natural chimpanzee corridor and help improving the water quality at a local stream.

The stream has become more polluted due to deforestation and erosion.

Over 1000 people use the stream as their main source of water to drink, cook and wash.

Many of the local villagers suffer from stomach complaints, skin rashes and other illnesses due to the water.

It's hoped the re-planting of the trees by villagers and JGI will mean these illnesses will be reduced.
