I apologize for putting this one up and down so many times. I have been having extreme audio issues. How exasperating!

Here it is in all its glory.

Music: "Rebellion (Lies)" The Arcade Fire, as played by a string quartet

Edit: I'm so pleased by the positive response! Thank you! :) It's always good to get the message out. Feel free to share this video as much as possible! Spreading the word for a very neglected cause can never be wrong.

  • You must be *spoken* correctly...

  • I actually said "spelt" in that bit. Had I said "spoke," oh man...I don't think I could live myself! :) Blame my crappy mic that definitely could use replacing. Thanks for commenting! :)

  • wonderful.

my sentiments seem to reflect yours & i think we should engage in a threesome post haste.

  • I love the way you think. We're doing this. ;)

  • Dear Evie,

I agree with your astounding film, the English language does need to be reintegrated into schools and the like. I enjoyed this very much, and it makes me feel a bit less embarrassed. The reason being is that when I instant message or email someone I always type in full sentences! Thank you for this awesome feel, more people should see it!

  • Thank you!

Always feel free to share the vid and spread it around! We have to get the awareness raised. :)

  • Wow, it's lovely to know I'm not the only teenager who cares about the English language...

Heh, I love the comment from muffinbanana, I've never heard of an Anglizism before. That's absolutely fantastic. Haha, wow!

  • You in no way come across as an elitist snot... I hope that was a compliment.

  • amazing.

  • i used the word vindictive on the channel page before i watched this

  • I loved this: it's amazing! I totally agree with you. I admit my grammar isn't the best but I try and it's much better than practically all my friends which really is worrying... People just have no idea about english language anymore, it's disgraceful. There should be more focus on actually learning the language, but as I was saying: I loved it! :)

  • Tristar, what would be the point? And where would the fun be? Personally I'm learning Japanese, and think the system the world has now is fine. In business, you communicate with the rest of the world in English mostly. In your own country, keep your own culture alive, and use your own language. It's sad in my country's case however, as English is becoming synonymous with US culture, rather than England, the country where this rather beautiful language first arose.

  • There's an annoying thing about people who become to over the top in their field of work and start spewing nonsense by overcomplicating things. There is only one English language, unless you include Pidgin, in which case there are two. Other forms are either dialects, or sheer bastardisations spawned from lack of respect for the language. And of course there is proper English, proper English is what became fixed grammatically and in spelling during the 15th and 16th centuries in Britain.

  • It's clear you've never taken a linguistics class because if you had you'd never post a video such as this. There is no such thing as 'proper' English. Some linguists might go as far as to question even the concept of 'the' English language. Personally I believe there many Englishes, even more than one per person who speaks 'English'.

  • It's called Esperanto! :)

  • Lets invent a truly new universal language every countries in the world accept. Life would be simpler by learning just 2 languages thereby prevent the extinction of unpopular languages. Truly sad Inglish with its inefficiency and inconsistency came to dominate the language of business world.

Its funny Inglish is language based on sound yet require more symbols to learn the pronunciation in the dictionary. EAT --> grEAT

  • People no longer use "one" because people aren't speaking English properly anymore. They say "you" instead of "one" which confuses me and isn't proper English.

My point was that *you* (one) can use English properly without sounding formal - which seems to be yours too.
