Just curious. . instead of having to cut out the suction hole didn't one side of your 1-2 cover already have a preset hole made?
-
@xmisskarax also...the white foam doesnt tear apart easily...so it would be a hell of a lot harder to rip off and get left behind in the undermining areas.
-
it definitly would have been easier to use the white foam from KCI for the VAC rather than the black foam for the undermining..expecially with how the wound is pretty close to surface level. although they usually say that white foam is for tunneled areas...it would also work wonders for your situation with the underminding...and its smoother and smaller than the black foam so it wouldnt hurt as much when they pack.

P.S. I have hella tape burn!!!

I feel for you girl :(
Mine is in my armpit. I could feel your pain when they were putting it in your leg. I'll NEVER look at foam in the same way. Who ever thought that foam could hurt like hell? I have to take an anti anxiety and pain meds before they change me.

please note that my comments were in no way to condemn your way of treatment. It was just an advice from a colleague, because when we use small pieces of gauze or something like that, .,we always keep a count, as yo would be surprised how easy they can get lost in big wounds especially when they become covered withi blood. It was just a harmless suggestion
did the wound heal and what about under tunnaling, was skin trimed back or foam pushed under and how long did it take to heal or did it heal

@DON351W It was taking months to heal so they stopped using the vac. In the end, I ended up having a flap surgery done by an amazing plastic surgeon and he did a fantastic job. They were pushing the foam under the undermining which in the long run was considered being a bad idea. To be honest, they made a lot of mistakes with that wound. I'm happy to say that after the flap surgery and plenty of pain from nerve damage and surgeries, etc., I'm all healed up and doing fine. :)

try to keep the foam in one piece or one of these days you will loose one of the small pieces in the wound.

@drftkhan There were smaller pieces for undermining. The undermining has healed and now only one piece of foam is used. Since this was a tutorial for the woman doing it for the first time (she's my neighbour, not a nurse) this was giving her the general idea. I've since taken videos showing the progress of the wound, which is still rather large and not healing at the rate it should be, by any means. I'll upload more vids soon. Also keep in mind, there are different methods for application.

out of curiosity, i have a wound vac on a c-section opening, i had contracted an infection an the wound vac was the choice to help it heal, how did yours heal up?and do you have like before and after pictures?

@BuddahLicious53 I've actually only had the wound vac for less than a month. I'm more than willing to share progress as it heals more. This video was uploaded the DAY of the change, so I've had some improvement since, It's definitely helping since my wound wasn't healing at all and it's now granulating. I'm willing to send photos to you if you'd like of progress. It's really deep (a few CM from the bone) and I have a long way to go. I can't wait to post a FINALLY closed vid.
