THIS AUCTION IS OVER: http://bit.ly/i4jtmX
Leanne Laine is an internationally-collected artist from BC, Canada, aka, "The Women in Wine Artist". This original "Women in Wine" painting titled "SWEET EMBRACE" was up for auction on Ebay shortly after the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. 100% proceeds went towards Relief efforts (50% to the Red Cross, 50% to Savethechildren.org).

"People have told me to post a video of me 'speed-painting' and put it up on Youtube or Facebook http://www.facebook.com/leannelainefineart. I've always liked the idea but I admit that I've procrastinated -- until disaster struck in Japan on Friday, March 11th. As I had posted a few days ago on my Facebook page, that day seriously affected me that I was going to work hard this week to do something more. I've been hugging my children and husband way more since that day too. So I've finally stopped procrastinating and made a video -- there's no better time to start. I've put myself out there and now turning to you for help. The more natural disasters going on, the more funds are being used of our charitable organizations involved in relief (ie. Haiti, China and other countries that have faced terrible disasters could still use more help!). You never know when we're going to need it too and natural disasters happen anywhere/everywhere. My message through this painting is to remind others that as the days pass after disasters strike, to please show support through giving, even just a dollar, and to continually keep these victims in our thoughts. COMPASSION makes the world go around, we just need to keep it fresh. As a "wine enthusiast and avid wine painter", with this painting titled "SWEET EMBRACE", there is nothing but goodness and love that goes into the making of wine. Given all that is happening in our world, either natural disasters or tyranny in the Middle East, which all seem to be coinciding, the world needs to be embraced, held and appreciated with the love, life and goodness... like that of wine. I really, REALLY appreciate all of you for all of your support for circulating this video to keep the compassion and strength alive for victims of natural disasters. Thank you also to Linda Monette, the new owner of "SWEET EMBRACE" who won the auction and will be hanging this painting at her family-owned restaurant, Flagstaff House Restaurant, in Boulder, CO. Many of the Japanese and their dignitaries visit this restaurant and the painting would hang in their honour. xo, Leanne"

  • Powerful video. Powerful painting. Powerful message. Powerful marketing.

Thank you Leanne. Even though I'm seeing this at a late date, I know the tragedy in Japan lingers on. Neil
