This was just another of my many tests. Before I started finding fallen trees and branches around LA, building up my stockpile, I had no wood to run through my bandsaw. In preparation for resawing, I picked up a couple of firewood bundles from local stores. They've sat for months, waiting for me to finish making a resawing jig. I finally have one, and after resawing found logs, I remembered the firewood, and decided to ultimately try out a piece. It resawed easily, and gave me a very light, very dry stock piece. It smelled strongly of pine, and comes from a bundle that claimed to be made of a variety of one or more species of pine, fir, cedar, spruce or juniper.
I have some type of branch I ganked out the firewood pile that I wish I had a picture(or youtube video) of. It's the most remarkable grain structure I've ever seen(ok. Im exaggerating) It has a tight, hard grain with brushed hues of blue when first cut. I'm responding because I see your from Sportsman's Paradise. Where(roundabout kinda sorta generalized area) do you live in LA? Hope you don't mean Los Angeles, CA. Reason I ask is it's hard to find any woodies around here. I'm in Monroe(NELA)

I love my bandsaw too. Greatest tool in the shop. Cuts super veneer. Joints, rips, cross-cuts, and all more safely than a wicked, spiteful circular saw. (Well, y'know what I mean!)
