With such a high unemployment rate, what can college graduates expect when they step into the real world this summer? Seniors at Northwestern University will be graduating in June, and many of them are afraid they might be joining the country's unemployed. Katharine Euphrat talked to some of them about how the recession has affected their job search.

  • I think the long term truth is the economy won't get better, and its not supposed to get better. its kind of silly to think that people must work jobs they don't like (which most people do), to make money to survive, and people call this progress. what did people do before supporting a few rich people, by being slaves/puppets/robots for jobs, following orders? this isn't a recession, this is a great depression number 2.

  • This is total bullshit, I grew up homeless as a migrant fruit worker. My friends never understand why I hate camping, it is because I lived outside most of my young life. I am a white guy whose father is a war vet and I clawed my way out of the gutter and got an education. I have a degree in bus admin and chem. I graduated in 07 and am about to load my few possessions in my truck and start following the fruit harvest again! FUCK THIS SHIT.............................

  • get yourself a commuter car and deliver pizzas, you make $20 an hour,

  • @XiongDummy lots of unemployed CPA's out there , I have talked to many

  • My college costs me $4k/year in tuition, ranked best in the state, 20th in the country among public, not anything special but considering how much BS school is I wouldnt pay any more. Experience and drive is more important, any tard can enroll on class

  • I feel sorry for those who is in college, they are the one who is being lie to when they told you that you need to get a college degree to be successful in life.

  • This is exactly what we are talking about . . . college grad's at every level of the food chain, tech, engineers, medical students have all been thru the shameless years or career development only to be told, there's nothing waiting at the end (graduation) . . . . lets change the prospective environment, become the business owner . . . . we can build your future become a business owner

  • I am a first year college student, and will be graduating in 2015 with an Accounting degree. My dream was to be an civil engineer, but it was destroy by the economy. No homes are being built, or construction being rebuilt, that's why I'm looking at accounting. No one enjoy doing taxes, I haven't taking classes that involve with basic accounting subject yet. I believe that a job as an accountant is more secure than civil engineer, therefore I'll give up my dream in this life time until the next.

  • the real world is scary, im freshman in college :D still 4 years im gonna do my best
